Jeff Guse from the Minnesota Correctional Facility’s Art Education Program describes an exhibition of work created by inmates called "Know My Story" featured at ArtReach St Croix during April's NEA Big Read. "Know My Story" touches on themes that are often uncomfortable, not unlike the themes of cynicism, fatalism and moral ambiguity found in THE MALTESE FALCON. Midway through, things lighten up with episode 2 of "Don't Whine Over Missing Robots" written and performed by the Shush! middle school audio drama team. The NEA audio guide book to THE MALTESE FALCON continues in the last half of the show.
The Big Read is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and is a one book, one community program that brings together residents from throughout the St. Croix Valley around the Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. For more information see ArtReach St. Croix's Big Read link.
